'সাপেদের দ্বীপ', নামটা শুনেই কেমন একটা শিউরে ওঠার মতো অনুভূতি হয়|  আসলে পৃথিবীতে খুব কম মানুষই আছেন যারা এই প্রাণীটিকে ভয় পান না|  আজকে তেমনি একটি জায়গার কথা বলবো যেখানে শুধু এই প্রাণীটির বাস|  আপনি হয়তো ভাবতে পারেন এটা আবার নতুন কি, পৃথিবীর সব জায়গাতেই তো সাপ থাকে|  কেউ হয়তো ভাববেন ধুর এই তো সেদিন যে আমাদের বাড়ির পাশে একটা সাপ বেরিয়েছিল|  তাদের বলি ব্যাপারটা এতটাও সহজ নয়|  প্রথমে জানা যাক জায়গাটা কোথায়|  ব্রাজিলের সাও পাওলো থেকে ৩৩ কিলোমিটার দূরে আটলান্টিক মহাসাগরের মধ্যে অবস্থিত 'কুইমাদা গ্রান্দে' নামের এই দ্বীপটি, যার আরেকটি নাম হলো 'সাপেদের দ্বীপ'|  দ্বীপটির মোট আয়তন মাত্র আধ বর্গকিলোমিটার|  দ্বীপটির আকৃতিও খানিকটা সাপের মতো|এখানেই বাস করে বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির সাপ|  যার মধ্যে একটি হলো ব্রাজিলের সব থেকে বিষধর সাপেদের মধ্যে একটি, 'গোল্ডেন ল্যান্সহেড'|  যার একটি কামড় মানুষের শরীরের মাংস পর্যন্ত গলিয়ে দিতে পারে| ১৯০৯ সালে পর্যটকদের জন্য দ্বীপের একটি উপকূলে ব্রাজিল সরকার একটি লাইটহাউস নির্মাণ করে|  ১৯20 সালে এই লাইটহাউস রক্ষণাবেক্ষণের জন্য যে পরিবারটি ছিল তারা সকলেই গোল্ডেন ল্যান্সহেড এর  কামড়ে মারা যান|
তারপর থেকেই এই দ্বীপটি
সাধারণের জন্য বন্ধ হয়ে যায়|  বর্তমানে এখানে সাপের সংখ্যা কত জানেন?           আনুমানিক ১০ হাজার| ঠিকই পড়ছেন মাত্র আধ বর্গকিলোমিটার জায়গায় ১০ হাজার সাপের বাস| অর্থাৎ প্রতি বর্গফুটে ৬টি করে সাপ|  এই দ্বীপ সর্বক্ষন ব্রাজিলের নৌসেনা পাহারা দেয়|
বিজ্ঞানী বা গবেষক ছাড়া ওই দ্বীপে ঢোকার অনুমতি কারোর নেই|  ব্রাজিলের নৌসেনার বিশেষ অনুমতি ছাড়া গবেষকদেরও  ওই দ্বীপে প্রবেশ নিষেধ|

'Snake Island', the name of the Island is indicating something dangerous. It is true that very few of us don't afraid of snake. Today I'm going to tell you about a place which is called the paradise of snake. Some people are thinking that what is the specialty of this place, cause you will get snakes in the every part of this planet. You guys please read this article till the end. There is an island in the Atlantic Ocean called 'Quimada Grande' which located 33 km away from Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nickname of this island is 'Snake Island'. The total area of this island is just half square kilometer. The shape of this island matches with the shape of a snake. Various kind of snakes lives here. It is also the home of World's one of the most venomous snake 'Golden Lancehead'. Just one bite of this snake can melt the flesh of a human body. In the year 1909 the Government of Brazil made a lighthouse in this island for travelers. They appointed a family to maintain the lighthouse. In the year 1920, the whole family died of Golden Lancehead bite. From that day, the

whole island has been closed for the visitors. Do you know how many snakes live in there? The number is around 10 thousand. That means 6 snakes in every square feet. The Brazilian Navy always kept there eye in this island. There is only scientists can go to the island for research purpose. But they have to take permission for this from the Brazilian Navy.
